Public Timeline Rhizome 2010 Commission Proposal The project PUBLIC TIMELINE archives all twitter messages of a whole day (24h) in a telephone book like format. 10-15 million tweets are posted by 8-12 million users every day on the micro blogging platform Twitter. All of these messages (except a very little percentage) are public and are displayed beside rss feeds as single HTML pages on the web. The order of print won’t be a chronological, like in the public timeline of Twitter, but an alphabetical by the screen name of the users. To hold the complete archive it is necessary to split the database onto 25-35 ‘telephone’ book volumes of each 2000 pages. The piece is presented in a large rack holding all volumes from A-Z. The visitor is invited to browse the PUBLIC TIMELINE.
