Aram Bartholl wird vertreten durch [DAM] Berlin | Cologne
Seit 1995 lebt und arbeitet Aram Bartholl in Berlin. Er studierte Architektur an der Universität der Künste UdK Berlin und schloss dort 2001 als Diplom Ingenieur ab. Er arbeitete für u.a. DMC, MVRDV, IEB Berlin und das Fraunhofer Institut FOCUS. Seine Installationen und Performances sind weltweit in zahlreichen Galerie- , als auch Museumsausstellungen sowie auf Festivals gezeigt worden. Regelmäßig stellt er seine Arbeiten auf Konferenzen vor oder wird von Universitäten und Kunsthochschulen zu Workshops und Präsentationen eingeladen.
Aram Bartholl ist Mitglied der in New York gegründeten Künstlergruppe ‘Free Art and Technology Lab’ a.k.a. ‘F.A.T. Lab’, bewegt sich in netzpolitischen Kreisen wie wie z.B dem Chaos Computer Clubs und unterhält Kontakte zur Internet startup szene. In seinem Blog sammelt er seit einigen Jahren Eindrücke rund um Streetart, Games, Privacy und neoanalog Culture.
In seinen Arbeiten untersucht Aram Bartholl das Verhältnis von Netz-Daten-Welt und Alltag-Lebens-Raum. „In welcher Form manifestiert sich die Netz-Daten-Welt in unserem Alltag-Lebens-Raum? Was kommt aus dem Cyberspace zurück in den physischen Raum? Wie beeinflussen die digitalen Neuerungen unser alltägliches Handeln?“ Mit seine Installationen, Workshops und Performances erarbeitete sich Bartholl ein eigenständiges Oeuvre welches die Beziehung der On- und Offline-Alltagskultur untersucht.
Mit seiner Serie von digitalen Objekten im physischen Raum als auch seinen Lichtinstallationen thematisiert er die technologisch getriebene Gesellschaft und das Spannungsverhältnis des öffentlichen und privaten Raumes. Ein weiteres wichtiges Format sind seine zahlreichen Workshops, Interventionen und Performances im öffentlichen Raum. In der Ära von Google, Facebook, Twitter und co. erforscht Aram Bartholl mit der Dynamik der Gruppenarbeit die Offlinewelt der Stadt.
